Attorney Robinson is a licensed Title Insurance Agent as required by New York law, and Examining Counsel for Stewart Title Insurance. Title insurance premiums are regulated by the State of New York and are available through Stewart Title Insurance Company’s Rate Calculator online.
Your mortgage lender must disclose your closing fees and costs to you within established Federal and State guidelines. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has established new disclosures and rules that go into effect with residential mortgage loans applied for beginning August 1, 2015. These new disclosures are supposed to make understanding your closing costs easier and to get the information to you much sooner, at least three business days prior to closing of your mortgage loan.
